Using the Dashboard

The Systems Manager Dashboard allows you to create a high-level view of your enterprise. You can add the reports and links that you use most frequently to your dashboard for quick access.

You can add the following types of items to your dashboard:

Viewing Your Dashboard

To view your dashboard, click the Dashboard tab.

To obtain the most current information for a report on your dashboard, click the Reload Dashboard button. The dashboard automatically refreshes each time you log in. If you want to refresh a single report, click its Refresh link at any time.

Note: Tabular reports display only 10 items per report on the dashboard.

To display a full report, you can click links or areas in the dashboard report, such as a column heading, a ticket number, or an asset name.

Editing Your Dashboard Content

You can determine the content that Systems Manager displays when you click the Dashboard tab. You can complete the following tasks in customizing your dashboard:

Adding Your Dashboard Content

Follow these steps to add content elements to your dashboard:

  1. Click the Edit Dashboard button at the top of your dashboard to display the Edit Dashboard Content page.
  2. From the Available items list, select the item you want to add. You can choose from Systems Manager reports and My Links.
  3. Click either the Add item to column 1 or the Add item to column 2 button. Systems Manager moves the content element to the column of your choice. Columns display on the dashboard in the order in which you add them to the list.
  4. Repeat the two previous steps for other content items you want to add.
  5. Click Done to save your changes and display your dashboard with the new content elements.

Note: You can add up to six items to your dashboard. For example, you can add My Links and five reports.

Changing Your Dashboard Layout

Follow these steps to rearrange the content elements on your dashboard:

  1. Click the Edit Dashboard button at the top of your dashboard to display the Edit Dashboard Content page.
  2. Select the item you want to move from the Column 1 items list and click the Add item to column 2 button. Systems Manager moves the content element to the Column 2 items list.

    —OR—
    Select the item you want to move from the Column 2 items list and click the Add item to column 1 button. Systems Manager moves the content element to the Column 1 items list.
  3. Repeat the previous step for other content items you want to move.
  4. In either column list, select the content element you want to move and use the up and down arrows to place the content elements in the order in which to display on your dashboard.
  5. Click Done to save your changes and display your dashboard with the updated layout.

Deleting Your Dashboard Content

Follow these steps to delete content elements from your dashboard:

  1. Click the Edit Dashboard button at the top of your dashboard to display the Edit Dashboard Content page.
  2. From either the Column 1 items list or Column 2 items list, select the content item you want to delete.
  3. Click the Remove item button.
  4. Repeat the two previous steps for other content items you want to remove.
  5. Click Done to save your changes and display your dashboard.

Managing My Links

You can complete the following tasks in the My Links section of your dashboard:

Adding URL to My Links

You can set up the My Links section of your dashboard to include links to any URL.

Follow these steps to add URL to the My Links section on your dashboard:

  1. From the My Links section on your dashboard, click the Add Link button to display the Name and URL fields.
    Note: Before you can add links to the My Links section, you must add that section to your dashboard.
  2. In the Name field, enter the name of the link that you want to display in the My Links section on your Dashboard.
  3. In the URL field, enter the URL to associate with the link you named in the previous step. The prefix can be http://, https://, or ftp://.
  4. Click the Save button to display the new link in the My Links section on your dashboard.

Deleting URL from My Links

You can clear the My Links section on your dashboard when you no longer need the URLs.

Follow these steps to delete the URLs from the My Links section on your dashboard:

  1. Click the Edit Dashboard button at the top of your dashboard to display the Edit Dashboard page.
  2. Select My Links from the Column 1 items list or the Column 2 items list and click Remove item.
  3. Select My Links from the Available items list and click Add item to column 1 or Add item to column 2.
  4. Click Done.

The empty My Links section displays on your dashboard, ready for you to add new links.
